Although COVID-19 has meant changes, the 5th annual Saskatchewan Police Memorial Ride to Remember will go on, but in a modified format. Saskatoon Police Staff Sgt Tony Nadon says instead of cycling from Saskatoon to Regina for the Canadian Police and Peace Officer Memorial Day ceremonies, there will be 2 shorter rides.
The ride is to remember all the fallen members who have died in the line of duty in Canada. Naydon says they have officers from Highway Patrol, Corman Park Police, Regina and Saskatoon Police Service members and a few EMS and firefighters as well.
The first ride begins tomorrow (Fri) morning, departing from Saskatoon Police Service headquarters at 10 for a 100 kilometre cycle in the Saskatoon area, heading to Pike Lake and towards Delisle and then back to the city. Then there is another 100 kilometre ride on Sunday in Regina, ending up at the Legislature for a small memorial service.
