Two people are in hospital after a head on collision early Sunday morning.
At approximately 8:29 a.m. the Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Idylwyld Drive South near 20th Street East. Callers reported one occupant to be trapped inside one of the vehicles involved. One fire engine, one rescue unit, and one battalion chief responded.
Arriving on scene in less than one minute, firefighters located two heavily damaged vehicles and a significant amount of debris. The fire department reports that bystanders had assisted the driver and lone occupant from one vehicle as fire crews made contact with a trapped driver and lone occupant of the second. Emergency crews quickly stabilized the driver and vehicle in preparation for the extrication process, firefighters then removed the driver-side door to access and remove the occupant inside. Both drivers were transported to hospital by ground ambulance with undetermined injuries.
