It will become official on Tuesday. The Premier unveiled the SaskParty campaign vehicle today (Mon), and when asked about whether he would also be dropping the writ to officially begin the election, Scott Moe replied that since it had to be done by law by Wednesday, we can expect it to happen tomorrow (Tues). 27 days is the minimum amount of time for an election in Saskatchewan and voting day at the polls is October 26th.
The Premier also talked about the outbreaks in Yorkton, saying he doesn’t have any specifics but if it’s similar to other outbreaks the province has experienced, it’s probably because someone has relaxed the safety protocols from COVID-19 a bit too much, leading to transmission of the virus. His comments were just prior to the Saskatchewan Health Authority revealing that Yorkton Regional Health Centre has 3 employees identified as close contacts with confirmed cases, so an outbreak has been declared there, along with the Yorkton Regional High School and the Pumphouse Athletic Club. A front line RCMP officer at the Yorkton Detachment has tested positive so his contacts are self-isolating, and that includes 14 officers and 2 civilian officers from the Detachment.
