The city of Saskatoon will provide technical services for Martensville’s traffic signals.
City council approved a 1-year pilot program where city workers will respond to requests for Martensville’s 3 traffic lights to be repaired, programmed or re-installed after damages from a collision.
This after Martensville reports they have experienced delays from while using external contractors to complete work and began to investigate their options.
City administration believes Martensville can be accommodated without impacting Saskatoon’s over 300 traffic signals, and without needing to recruit additional staff.
Saskatoon administration will assess the program after a year and do not anticipate any financial losses as they will charge Martensville standard cost-recovery rates.
