The Sask. Party says, if re-elected, it will make children’s sports, arts, and cultural activities more affordable by restarting the Active Families benefit for families with under $60 thousand annual income. It would amount to $150 per year per child and provide families of children with a disability an additional $50. The benefit would begin in the 2021-22 budget at a cost of $5.7 million annually.
Leader Scott Moe says the party would also add 750 new childcare spaces over the next four years. 230 of them would be in new schools. It’s expected that 120 would begin operating in the 2021-22 year. The total cost of the new spaces and increased support for existing spaces would be $9.7 million over four years.
Beginning in the 2022-23 budget:
The one-time start-up grant for new licensed family home-based childcare spaces will increase by $500 per home;
The monthly nutrition grant for all licensed home-based childcare spaces will increase by $20 per month per space, from $60 to $80; and
The annual equipment grant provided to all licensed home-based childcare spaces will increase by $150 per year per space, from $150 to $300.

While making the announcement, Moe was asked about why the candidate for Regina Rosemont was still running after it was discovered he took part in what are being described as disrespectful actions in Craven in 2016. Alex Nau and a friend invited people to spin the “Wheel of Fun” and one of the options was for women to show their breasts. Moe says Nau was a teenager when this happened and he deeply regrets this and understands it was a juvenile incident.
He then brought up NDP candidate for Regina Elphinstone-Centre, Meara Conway, who posted on social media 2 years ago that the tarsands are a nightmare and any political agenda that takes climate change seriously doesn’t have space for the TransMountain pipeline expansion. NDP Leader Ryan Meili says his party is not anti-oil, anti-energy or anti-gas.
