The waiting game ended rather quickly Wednesday for Tristen Robins of the Saskatoon Blades.

The 18-year-old centre was taken in the second round, 56th overall, by the San Jose Sharks as Day 2 of the N-H-L Draft continued virtually. Being selected 56th overall is another massive rise up in terms of prominence for the Brandon product. Robins was ranked 134th amongst North American skaters by N-H-L Central Scouting on their mid-term list, then jumped up to 86th in the final rankings. Originally taken in the fourth round of the 2016 W-H-L Bantam Draft by Regina, Robins finished last season with 25 goals amongst 56 points in the Bridge City Bunch’s final 37 games before COVID-19 cancelled the rest of the campaign. He finished with 33 goals amongst 73 points in 62 games for the Blue and Gold. The intriguing part of this pick is that Tristen’s father Trevor, a former Blades’ goaltender, was a member of the Sharks’ organization in the 1990s.
