First the pandemic hit, meaning no more theatre shows for awhile, and then their venue succumbed to the economic effects of the virus.
Mini Fridge Theatre Company’s venue was the German Concordia Club which had to close its doors.
Director Jason Weckert says they are now ready to bring live theatre back to Saskatoon, with safety measures in place after finding a new venue, caterer, and figuring out how to do the ticketing and billing which the German Concordia Club used to take care of.
Normally the shows could have an audience of over a hundred, but because of safety guidelines, only 67 people are allowed in the hall at any point in time including the cast, crew, staff and the audience – that means about 55 seats.
The new caterer runs a restaurant and is well aware of the safety protocols.
The meals will be individually package using single service, biodegradable dishes.
Weckert says the play, The Foursome, is about 4 men reuniting over a game of gold after a college reunion.
The show runs Thursday through Saturday and then against next week, the 15th through 17th.
