This candidate profile for the upcoming civic election features AJ Itterman who is running in Ward 10.
Itterman says his priorities include getting city council and city managers to work together to become an efficient city that does not need tax increases every year. He says another issue he wishes to tackle is the downtown core and dealing with the issues there, specifically around safety. Itterman would also like to see all communities in the city safer as well. Itterman stresses a need for proper city planning when it comes to future developments, saying we don’t want to be looking back with regrets, and things should be done right the first time.
Itterman says as a business owner he understands money makes things happen, but you can’t keep pulling from the people and expect them to constantly fork out more taxes. That’s why he thinks making sure things are planned out, affordable and have basics done properly and not costing more than they should, will allow council to do more for people.
Itterman suggests there is a need to get the basics like garbage collection, roads, and sewers in order before going forward with other projects.
