A state of emergency that was declared last night has been lifted. The village’s 67 residents are being allowed to return home, but are advised to stay away from the fire scene. A precautionary drinking water advisory is also in effect.
The Mayor of Marengo, Travis McKillop says this will have a huge impact on the community and surrounding area. He calls the elevator ‘a hub of agriculture in the region’ . . . serving as a major employer and a destination for grain deliveries.
