An Angus Reid poll, taken before the leaders debate, indicate voters in this province are leaning heavily towards re-electing the Sask. Party government but, are also disenchanted by not seeing a viable third option. The poll shows the Sask. Party with a whopping 27 point advantage over the New Democrats. Sixty per cent favour the Sask Party, 33 per cent the NDP and 7 per cent another party.
NDP leader Ryan Meili has a personal approval rating of 31 per cent whereas Scott Moe’s is 56 per cent. The Saskatchewan Party is also chosen as best by an overwhelming margin among those who prioritize economic growth, resources and taxation issued.
There is room for another party to break into the scene. Half of residents say they would like to see a third alternative, finding a middle ground between the incumbent party and the opposition. For NDP voters, 69 per cent feel this way.
On other matters:
-2/3’s of voters feel the province needs a stronger opposition.
-43 per cent say they feel uncomfortable voting in a pandemic, despite the choices available in how to cast a ballot.
-44 per cent believe the NDP is best to lead in healthcare. 33 per cent prefer the Sask. Party.
-Younger and older women prioritize healthcare over other issues.
-Male voters are most concerned about economic issues, such as growth and resources.
-25 per cent of those between the ages of 18 and 34 put climate change at the top.
