Darren Hill the incumbent in Ward 1, says his number one priority if re-elected is the COVID-19 pandemic. He believes we are no where near done dealing with how it will impact citizens and the city. Hill says he makes his decisions on the best interest of the city as a whole, while keeping in mind he is spending resident tax dollars when making those decisions.
Hill has been a resident of Ward 1 for 30 plus years and has served on City Council for fourteen. He says any incumbent going into an election always carries the risk of people looking for change, but adds he has always spoke the truth and he has always done what he believes to be in the best interest of people. Hill adds he always admits if he makes a mistake, which he feels serves him well with residents in Saskatoon.
Hill wants to ensure the city continues to invest in roads, and infrastructure improvements, by adding curb cuts and the replacement of deficient or missing sidewalks to the Road Levy program. He will also continue to fight any proposed bridge over 33rd Street, which he says would be a nightmare for multiple neighbourhoods west of 33rd.
Hill says his mandate is to have a responsive council committed to advancing Saskatoon into being a leader in environmental sustainability, cultural relations, and safe communities.
