The last debate of the provincial election was held last night [tues], virtually. Students unions from the University of Regina and USask, along with a group called, Future Majority, hosted the debate. It featured NDP leader Ryan Meili and Dustin Duncan from the Sask. Party, who sat in for leader Scott Moe who was a no-show for the debate. Future Majority called it, the next generation leaders debate, and noted how young people voted in record numbers in the 2015 and 2019 federal elections and, if the trend continues, could have a significant impact on this election.
The group says millennials and Gen Z’ers make up the largest voting block in the province this election, and hundreds of them tuned in to listen to the discussion that covered such issues as climate change, mental health services, accessible education, and racial equity.
