Tuesday is the first day for the provincial election advance polls, open from noon to 8 through Saturday, leading up to election day on Monday.
Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe is encouraging everyone to vote, saying all safety measures are in place. Because of physical distancing, he suggests the line-up may be shorter during the advance polls, so if the timing works for you it may be a better option.
Elections Saskatchewan has been in consultation with the province’s Chief Medical Health Officer to make sure everything is safe, but Moe says, “Where we are having challenges are where people are stepping outside the Public Health Regulations.” He points to a few nightclubs in Saskatoon and a worship service in Prince Albert that he calls super spreaders.
Moe says the COVID-19 numbers are up because people have gone outside the Public Health parameters, and it’s time to re-evaluate and look at what we are each individually doing to reduce the spread. He urges those who are self-isolating to contact Elections Saskatchewan, because there are systems in place to ensure voting access to everyone.
