Zubair Sheikh is one of Saskatoon’s mayoral candidates. He is a professional engineering consultant with his own business.
Sheikh promises better fiscal management by trimming unnecessary spending. He would like to focus less on the large projects like the new central library and more on supporting police, emergency and mental health services.
The mayoralty candidate says because of the financial crunch on residents, he supports cutting property taxes by half for at least 4 months. Sheikh would like to see more engagement with Europe to attract businesses to Saskatoon and he would encourage private-public investments for tourism projects, in particular to promote winter activities.
