The City of Saskatoon is running into some hiccups with mail in ballots for the civic election. To date the Civic Elections Office has received over 14-thousand mail-in ballot applications.
If you receive your mail-in ballot package, on or after, November 2nd, you can still use it, but you have to drop it off yourself in person at the election office.
Thursday is the final day to apply for a mail-in ballot and Friday is the first day of advance polling. This is the first time online application for mail in ballots was offered in a civic election.
The elections office has hired extra staff and employed more work hours to review, approve, and create the ballot package specific to the ward the voter is voting in. The election office in Saskatoon is also planning to designate other city facilities where voters can drop off their mail in ballots before election day.
