Saskatoon mayoral candidate Charlie Clark says he will create 15,000 in his next term, if he elected.
The incumbent highlights the numbers from Statistics Canada between 2017 and the beginning of the pandemic lockdown where there were 11,900 new jobs created in Saskatoon while in that same time period in the province, job growth was in the negative for two years before making up the loss in the third year.
Clark adds that over the past 4 years the City’s business development tax incentive which is administered by SREDA has experienced a record number of companies applying to the program, which has created hundreds of local jobs.
Clark says the first step in his plan to create 15,000 jobs is to implement the Economic Growth Strategy that was launched just two weeks before the City of Saskatoon shut down due to COVID-19.
