One woman is in custody after a taxi was stolen in Regina on Saturday.
At 6:14 a.m. police were dispatched to the report of a stolen auto in progress in the 500 block of Toronto Street. The taxi driver had been transporting two men and a woman from the 4700 block of Victoria Avenue and when he asked for payment the woman allegedly became very aggressive and punched him in the face with her fist. The taxi driver reports getting out of the cab and the woman then got into the driver’s seat and drove approximately one block away. The taxi driver says he ran after the cab thinking his fob would disconnect and then the car would stop. The taxi driver located his cab in the 500 block of Toronto Street, where all three people ran towards a home and where then located by police. No one was injured as a result of this incident, but 23 year-old Rebecca Peigan was charged with robbery.
She will make her first court appearance in Provincial court on Monday, December 21st, 2020.
