Saskatoon’s General Manager of Transportation and Construction says much work has been completed to clear the roads, but more needs to be done and crews are working around the clock to get there faster.
Terry Schmidt says now that the priority streets are open to traffic, they are focusing on the residential streets. The schedule was developed so it wouldn’t overlap with garbage and recycling collection, but there may be some instances where that doesn’t work out. The first pass has been completed in Kensington, Stonebridge, Eastview, Holiday Park and Brighton, while clearing continues in Hampton Village, Rosewood, lakeridge, Harbour Creek and Evergreen.
Work will also begin in six other neighbourhoods today (Fri), in Wildwood, Buena Vista, Mayfair, Silverwood Heights, Erindale and Montgomery. Schmidt says the schedule has work starting in all neighbourhoods by November 20th. Crews will also be going into back lanes, with the priority for those with garbage pick up.
City Manager Jeff Jorgenson describes the work as a blitz approach to get everyone’s mobility restored. He says residents will notice large piles of snow, but crews will be back to pick them up after the clearing is done.
