As of Saturday morning, the City of Saskatoon’s summary for road clearing is that crews have restored basic mobility in 15 neighbourhoods throughout the city. Clearing is underway in an additional 6 neigbourhoods and Saturday and into Sunday work is scheduled for an additional 8 neighbourhoods. By Saturday night basic mobility will be restored or underway in about 45% of Saskatoon neighbourhoods.
Crews are working simultaneously throughout the city, working on the streets and neighbourhoods affected the most and in a sequence where the streets carrying the most traffic or are strategically located are addressed first.
If your vehicle is on the street, you don’t have to move it, but the City says in its update that it would be appreciated if you could. If you are unable to clear snow pushed up against your driveway or vehicle, reach out to a friend or neighbour.
After the first pass, snow crews will return to some streets for clean up work.
There will be large piles of snow that crews will come back later to pick up.
Snow has been cleared in front of the schools, though windrows, otherwise known as piles of snow, remain in the parking lane. The removal of these windrows is underway along with working on the residential streets.
