If you spent more time in nature this year checking out the local wildlife because of social distancing, you probably have a licensed hunter, angler, or trapper to thank.
That’s according to the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation’s Executive Director who says the province is world renown for having ample accessible areas for fish and wildlife to flourish, but many of these natural areas wouldn’t exist without the province’s 270,000 licensed hunters, anglers and trappers.
Darrell Crabbe says 30 per cent of the licence sale go toward the acquisition and management of habitat.
It equals about $4.2-million a year, which is often matched by local organizations.
The SWF is encouraging everyone to support and celebrate Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day on Monday by wearing camouflage clothing.
