LutherCare Communities has confirmed there are 34 positive cases of COVID-19 among its residents at Luther Special Care Home and four cases among its staff. Twenty-three staff members are self-isolating.
Operations Lead, Ivan Olfert, says, “Staffing at the care home has become strained, however, we are working with our partners within the health system and our staff as we strive to maintain our high standard of quality care.” He adds that the health and safety of residents and staff are top priority. No other details are being released to respect the privacy of residents, staff and families.
The care home has 129 beds for level 3 and 4 care, including a secure 49-bed dementia care unit. Olfert says outbreak control measures have been implemented and residents’ families have been alerted.
