The NDP has two requests of the SaskParty government today (Mon).
Restore supports to all income assistance clients who were cut off after receiving the Canada Emergency Response Benefit or the Canada Emergency Student Benefit, and to stop the claw back of what the province calls over payments to income assistance clients who received either of these two benefits from the federal government.
Official Opposition Critic for Social Services, Meara Conway says Saskatchewan is seeing staggering numbers of new cases of COVID-19 and the policy to cut and claw back federal supports from the most vulnerable is literally leaving people out in the cold.
The Social Services Appeal Board has asked the Ministry to amend the existing policies and the NDP echoes that call.
Conway also urges the provincial government to reinstate the eviction moratorium ahead of the coldest winter months.
