Many Saskatchewan business owners are not taking advantage of federal support during the pandemic, and a webinar from the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is aiming to change that.
Chamber CEO Steve McLellan says early indications show that Saskatchewan businesses have only accessed 1.7% of the allocated dollars through the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS). Meaning Saskatchewan businesses are being shorted by approximately $185 million.
He says help will be provided this week with two “Grab Your Slice” webinars hosted by MNP and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce. The webinars aim to help Saskatchewan businesses apply for federal COVID-19 support programs, like the CEWS and will run Thursday and Friday with limited space.
McLellan says if you can’t make the webinars he highly encourages business owners and operators to check in with their accounting professionals or advisors. He says it may cost a bit of money to have someone to take a look, but there are millions of dollars not being claimed and McLellan is encouraging people to take the steps needed to get the right information.
