SGI says it has made the difficult decision to suspend this year’s “Wing in the New Year” program.
For more than three decades, SGI has partnered with the cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Moose Jaw to offer free transit service on New Year’s Eve as an option for a safe, sober ride home.
The uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic is the cause. This will be the first year in its history the service will be suspended.
In the meantime, SGI reminds everyone to keep in mind other safe ride options:
Plan ahead and designate a driver;
Call a sober person in your household or bubble;
Take a taxi, rideshare, designated driving service, or transit where available; or
If you’re at someone else’s place, stay over.
