The appeal hearing for a man charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death is scheduled for Monday.
On January 29th of 2016 an eight month old baby girl was found unresponsive by Saskatoon Police in an apartment in the 100 block of Avenue P South.
She was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A man, who was 27 years old at the time, was arrested at the scene and charged with several breaches of a conditional sentence order.
Saskatoon Police reported that from the investigation, an autopsy and consultation with Crown Prosecutors, Major Crime detectives believed the baby asphyxiated as a result of the actions of the accused.
As his trial was about to begin, a stay of proceedings was entered and now the case is before the Court of Appeal.
