The entire school at Centennial Collegiate is moving to online learning. The Saskatoon Public Schools, in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, have decided to move the high school to Level 4 of the provincial Safe Schools Plan. All classes will move to online learning through December 18th and this goes into effect this Thursday.
To date, Centennial Collegiate has had 16 positive cases of COVID 19 which has resulted in the temporary closure of 25 classes as students were directed to self isolate. The school board says the numerous disruptions have made it difficult for staff to deliver instruction for all students.
Classes run as scheduled today and tomorrow so teachers can prepare students for the move online. Since the start of the school year, Saskatoon Public Schools has had 96 positive cases of COVID-19 at 36 locations in the division.
Meanwhile, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says the Saskatchewan Health Authority has found a positive COVID-19 case in an individual at each of St. Augustine School and St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre. Risk of exposure for anyone not considered a close contact remains low. The affected classes/cohorts will switch to online instruction as of Tuesday.
