The City of Saskatoon’s sewer maintenance staff will be busy doing sewer smoke testing this Friday along 22nd Street West.
The city crew will be using a non-toxic liquid smoke to identify weak points in the storm sewer system, an oil-based smoke that mimics the properties of invisible sewer gases. It will be poured into the storm water manholes in the street and tracked as it follows the pipes to identofy weak points or small openings where contaminants could enter. As a result of this work, westbound lanes of 22nd Street West will merge to the median lane from Avenue I North to Avenue L North, beginning Friday at 10:30 a.m.
