Saskatoon’s Extendicare Preston is confirming that an COVID-19 outbreak has been declared by public health. This after positive test results were received for one resident and one staff member.
Extendicare Preston says it has been working with the Saskatchewan Health Authority to contain spread of the virus. Residents were quickly cohorted based on these results and a targeted group of residents are isolating in their rooms where they are being provided with meals and care support.
Extendicare Preston says enhanced infection prevention and control protocols are in place and additional PPE requirements for staff, with stable supply on-site and ability to supplement as needed. They are also conducting surveillance testing of residents and testing all staff.
