Two people have been charged in a Saskatoon Police child abuse investigation. Staff Sergeant James Repesse says on December 7th, police were called to a home in the 600 block of Lenore Drive because a young boy was on a roof flagging down traffic. Three children were found at the home – two boys, four and seven years old, and a ten year old girl. One of the boys was found confined to a bedroom.
Repesse says the three were taken to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and then released into foster care. The Staff Sergeant adds that there may be a trial down the road, so the goal is to make sure the children are healthy and happy and Victim Services can help to make sure they are prepared if they have to testify.
There are no details as to whether the children are related to the 36 year old woman or the 28 year old man charged in this incident, to protect the children’s identities. The two were arrested at the home on Lenore Drive. Repesse says the two are known to each other.
The woman is charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, and two counts each of failing to provide necessities of life, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and forcible confinement. The man is charged with assault and assault with a weapon.
