If you’ve received a text message indicating that a delivery company has a parcel for you awaiting pick-up, but additional fees are required to collect it…it’s a scam!
So says the Saskatoon Police Service who have received several reports about a text message scam involving parcels recently. Victims who have continued with the text and clicked the link are taken through a series of steps, eventually prompted for their credit card information. Police want to remind the public that parcel delivery services don not contact you via text message and ask for additional funds; never give out personal information or credit card information; do not click on links in text messages or emails from unknown sources or senders. Police add that this is the time of year for people using online shopping and that you should take a moment to be extra aware of how your parcels are being delivered.
