Saskatchewan’s first COVID-19 vaccines were administered last night to Critical Care Physician, Dr. Jeffery Betcher and emergency room nurse Leah Sawatzky.
Both agreed that people need to trust the science and get vaccinated, not only for themselves but for others around them.
Lead Medical Health Officer for Immunization Dr. Tania Diener says this is not the end of the pandemic, but the beginning of the end. She says we need to continue to apply all COVID precautions.
1,950 health care workers in ICU’s, Emergency Room departments and COVID units at both the Regina General and Pasqua Hospitals along with staff at testing and assessment centres will be vaccinated over the next number of days, with pilot recipients getting their second dose 21 days after getting the first one.
The vaccines were delivered on a day where 194 new COVID-19 cases and seven deaths were reported. It’s the first time in seven days that the new case load was under 200. (CKRM)
