For many of us, showing appreciation comes directly from our heart through our kitchens but the Saskatchewan Health Authority says in the midst of a pandemic they cannot accept food donations intended to show appreciation to hard working health care workers.
The SHA is asking Saskatchewan residents to refrain from taking food to any of the hospitals or any other Saskatchewan Health Authority facility including holiday baking, individually wrapped items or packaged meals. They have not only received inquiries but have had people drop items off.
The health authority does suggest that if you want to show appreciation you can donate to your local health foundation where contributions go to support healthcare in your community or show your gratitude virtually. If you are on social media use the #SKHCW to give a shout out to staff and volunteers. Tag the SHA on Facebook or Twitter (@saskhealth) to help spread the gratitude.
The SHA also encourages everyone to thank the health-care worker in your life, publicly or privately. But of course health officials say the biggest way to help is by staying home, following public health orders and guidelines to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
