With another COVID-19 restriction-anti mask protest planned this weekend, Mayor Charlie Clark says if you are hearing this misinformation going around, really pay attention to the fact that people are dying, and there are over 100 deaths in Saskatchewan.
When it comes to police presence at the rallies, Mayor Clark says there are public health guidelines in place and it’s important that they be upheld and enforced, especially if people are actively trying to tell people not to follow them and risking the health of others. While the Mayor and City Council don’t directly tell Saskatoon Police how to run their operations, Clark says police will make enforcement decisions based on their own assessments and plans to manage the situation.
Clark says there are nurses, doctors and health care workers that are pleading with residents because they are exhausted, overwhelmed and trying to help keep us safe. Clark says to listen to them, and to stay home.
Clark adds it’s so important right now, as the impacts of the virus increases in our community, to get the virus moving in the other direction, keeping as many people alive as possible as we move towards the reality that the vaccine is coming.
