Another protest of COVID-19 restrictions was held in Saskatoon Saturday.
This after multiple fines have been handed out to organizers of previous events, over the past few weeks.
Saskatoon Police spoke with organizers before the event to get the route of the protest, and provided police escort throughout the afternoon. The rally started at around 2 p.m. at the Vimy Ridge Memorial in Kiwanis park, moved down Broadway, over to Victoria Avenue and then back downtown. Traffic Restrictions were lifted at 4:46 p.m.
From video of the event, it appeared that at one point a group of counter-protestors tried to disrupt proceedings, by blasting a loud pulsing alarm while protestors were giving speeches. A group of masked counter protestors then seemingly engaged some of the crowd and were eventually escorted away by police.
On Social media one of the COVID-19 restriction protest organizers suggested there were about 250 people in the crowd. Other witnesses claimed that numbers were around 150.
