A two vehicle crash on Highway 3 near Prince Albert has left two people dead. A 30 year old man from Prince Albert and a 4 year old boy from Parkside were declared deceased at the scene. RCMP say they were in an eastbound car that pulled into the westbound lane and collided head on with a truck.
A 34 year old woman and a 3 year old girl both from the Shellbrook area who were in the truck were taken to hospital. Their injuries are considered non life threatening.
The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 3 approximately 5 kilometres west of Prince Albert.
RCMP officers, a Traffic Reconstructionist, Parkland Ambulance and Prince Albert and Buckland Fire Departments all assisted at the accident scene.
Police say the road conditions at the time of the crash were extremely icy. Traffic was rerouted for several hours and while alcohol is not considered a factor, the investigation is ongoing. Autopsies have been ordered by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
