Statistics Canada says, after five consecutive monthly gains, the Food Services and Drinking Places subsector in Canada took a hit in October, with sales falling across Canada by about nine per cent. This came as COVID19 wave two restrictions came into play in several provinces. In fact, the only province showing an uptick was Nova Scotia at 1.2 per cent. In Saskatchewan, we were in the middle of the pack with sales down about five per cent. Quebec took the biggest hit with a drop of about 20 per cent. Total sales in Saskatchewan in October came in at about $143 million. Compared to a year ago, that was a drop of 11.5 per cent; still better than the national average which was a year-over-year decline of almost 28 per cent.
