The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce has developed a system to support communities and companies to integrate Indigenous, immigrant, youth and women workers into the workforce.
It’s called the Training & Employment Network which is funded through the federal government’s Western Economic Diversification Canada program.
Local chambers can receive up to $10,000 for developing and implementing an action plan that identifies gaps in the labour market and creates opportunities for workers and employers.
CEO of the Saskatchewan Chamber, Steve McLellan, says this network will connect people to employers and training based on skills.
The chambers participating in TEN include Battlefords, Estevan, Humboldt, Kindersley, Lloydminster, Moose Jaw, Nipawin, Prairie Sky (Warman & Martensville), Prince Albert, Swift Current, Weyburn and Yorkton.
