Saskatoon Police say a domestic altercation involving a 27 year old man armed with a knife in the 1100 block of Avenue W North escalated and a police officer discharged their weapon. The 27 year old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police Superintendant Randy Huisman says the situation spilled out into the parking lot and the officer’s gun was discharged outside the building. He also says it’s not law yet but Saskatoon Police have put the wheels in motion to abide by legislation changes that were proposed in the summer in regards to police oversight. So, the Saskatoon Police Service has asked the Regina Police Service to investigate and asked the province to appoint investigation observers. Police also believe witnesses may have seen the incident and are asking anyone with information to come forward. The two officers who attended the domestic dispute have not yet been interviewed in regards to the details of the officer involved shooting.
