Spirit River RCMP are investigating a helicopter crash that occured on New Year’s Day.

RCMP say they received a call from an Emergency Location Transmitter signal from a helicopter in the Birch Hills County Area, which is about 90 kilometers northeast of Grand Prairie.  Upon arrival, RCMP members confirmed that a helicopter had crashed in a farmer’s field.  Four occupants of the helicopter were confirmed deceased as a result of the crash.

Nav Canada and OHS investigators are joining in the ongoing RCMP investigation into the cause of the crash.
