The city of Saskatoon has a new way to learn about the city’s bylaws.
Jo-Anne Richter, Director of Community Standards says the Good Neighbour Guide is a user friendly, easy to read document, that primarily deals with municipal bylaws for neighbourhood related issues.
Richter adds that it’s not always easy to find out information by reading the bylaws or checking online and the guide aims to make this a little easier to digest. She the guide lists some of the common infractions and what the specific guidelines around the bylaws are. Common infractions include things like snow and ice clearing, parking on front lawns, fence height and even vegetation growth in back alleys.
Richter says a lot of the city’s bylaw compliance work is complaint based, but if neighbours are aware what the requirements are, it may eliminate some calls to the city and that can be addressed right at the neighbourhood level. She adds that most people want to be good neighbours and act in compliance with bylaws but if they don’t know what regulations are, it can be difficult.
