Navdeep Bains won’t be running in the next federal election so the Prime Minister says Francois-Philippe Champagne replaces Bains as Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry and Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.

Also at the news conference Tuesday morning, Justin Trudeau announced that Canada has reached an agreement with Pfizer for an additional 20 million doses of their COVID-19 vaccine.

He says between Pfizer and Moderna, 80 million doses will arrive this year. He says all the provinces and territories know how much vaccine they will be receiving every week between now and the end of February. Trudeau says by September, he hopes everyone in Canada who wants the vaccine will get it.

As to the border with the United States, Trudeau says it will remain closed. He says it has been extended until February 21st. The joint restrictions have been in place since last March, and were mutually agreed upon by both countries.
