Freezing rain, wind and winter storm warnings cover two thirds of Saskatchewan as a strong low pressure system tracks across the province today. Northwest winds with gusts of 110 km/h are expected for much of the province this afternoon and tonight in addition to rain showers giving way to flurries. There could also be snow squalls tonight possibly creating near zero visibility. Blustery winds continue through Thursday.
Environment Canada states that these kinds of winds could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles and tall vehicles are at risk of being overturned. If you have objects on your property that could be tossed by the wind, you are warned to anchor them down. Damage to buildings such as to roof shingles and windows could also occur.
