The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers expects a 14 per cent increase in natural gas and oil investment for exploration and production this year. But, just how attractive is the energy sector in Canada as an investment? According to a competitiveness survey from the Fraser Institute, Oklahoma is North American’s most attractive jurisdiction followed by Kansas and Texas. Saskatchewan, at 8th spot, is the only Canadian jurisdiction in the top 10. Alberta ranks 12th. Despite that, the Association predicts an 18 per cent investment increase in Alberta and a five per cent increase in Saskatchewan.
