The City of Saskatoon is confirming a declaration of a COVID-19 outbreak at the Saskatoon Fire Station Number 7 on Wanuskewin Road by the Saskatchewan Health Authority, but the City is also saying they don’t expect there will be an impact to operations or emergency services as a result of the outbreak.
An S-H-A outbreak is when two or more people test positive for COVID-19 and are linked to a specific non-household setting or event within a specified period of time. The outbreak declaration remains in effect until 21 days without a new positive novel coronavirus case in the workplace passes. According to the City, due to the safety protocols and controls in place for fire fighters, including enhanced P-P-E requirements, no close contact with the public has occurred. The S-H-A has followed up and contacted individuals regarding the contact tracing process while enhanced cleaning and disinfecting has occurred at the Fire Station since the positive cases were identified.
