Regina Police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the new year.

At approximately 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of Athol Street for a report of a woman being shot.  Upon Police arrival police found a woman who had sustained serious injuries.  Emergency Medical Services transported her to hospital, were she later died.

Police say the woman has been identified and her next-of-kin have been notified of her death.
