Saskatoon product, U of S grad and decorated Canadian international track and field competitor Diane Jones-Konihowski is the latest inductee into the Canada West Conference Hall-of-Fame.
Jones-Konihowski was recently named for induction into the Canada Sports Hall-of-Fame and is a member of the Order Of Canada. As a Huskie, Jones-Konihowski guided the U of S track team to three Canada West title in five seasons…winning 12 individual events. She won gold in pentathlon at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, making her top ranked in the discipline in the world at that time. Jones Konihowski joins CW Hall of Fame

VANCOUVER – One of Canada’s most well-rounded track and field stars, Diane Jones Konihowski can now add Canada West Hall of Famer to her long list of achievements.
The University of Saskatchewan great was named Tuesday as the latest inductee in the conference’s Hall of Fame.
Over five seasons at U of S, Jones Konihowski helped guide Saskatchewan to three conference titles, while the multi-event star won 12 individual medals.

Internationally, she was a standout in the pentathlon, capturing bronze at the 1973 World University Games after starring for Canada at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. She was once again an Olympian at the Montreal Games in 1976 and went on to win gold in the pentathlon at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. That victory made her the top ranked female pentathlete in the world.
A member of the Order of Canada, Jones Konihowski has been honoured numerous times, and is set to be inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame this year (class of 2020-21).
