ClimateWest officially launched as the new hub for supporting climate adaptation efforts in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.

A number of collaborators are involved in the creation of ClimateWest including the Prairie Adaptation Research Collaborative, or PARC, a climate change research centre at the University of Regina.

Terry Duguid with the Government of Canada says ClimateWest will help Canadians become more resilient in the face of a changing climate. Duguid added that the federal government has committed just under 2 million dollars over the next three years to support ClimateWest.

The non-profit regional hub aims to deliver information and data across the prairie provinces generated by climate change.

According to PARC, the prairie provinces have witnessed 13 of Canada’s 20 most expensive weather-related events since 1983. (CKRM)
