The City of Saskatoon says there were no reported injuries when an Access Transit bus and a CP Train collided this morning at a crossing on 20th Street West.
The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. which is when, the city says in a news release, that the operator had parked near Station 20 West to help a passenger off the bus while another passenger remained on the bus.
Saskatoon Fire paramedics transferred the remaining passenger to hospital as a precaution. An internal investigation is underway by Transit supervisors but the city says at this time it appears the bus was parked too close to the railroad tracks.
The train was assessed and shortly after 9:00 a.m. rail officials declared the train safe to continue its trip.
Access Transit provides on demand services to individuals who cannot take conventional transit some or all of the time due to physical or cognitive disabilities. There is a fleet of 28 lift equipped buses.
