Two respected First Nations leaders in the province have been mourned and memorialized by the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations. Former F-S-I-N Senator Theresa Stevenson and Prince Albert Grand Council former Grand Chief and Senator Ron Michel both recently passed away.

In the case of Senator Stevenson, F-S-I-N Vice Chief Dutch Lerat said that, “she will be missed by the many people who loved her dearly and by the thousands of lives she touched with her charity work and selflessness.”

Senator Michel passed away Monday at the age of 69. He served as Chief of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation for 20 years before serving as P-A-G-C Grand Chief for 12 years. F-S-I-N Chief Bobby Cameron said, “He was instrumental and played an influential role in my life.”
