This is the Canadian Federation Of Independent Business Red Tape Awareness Week and Wednesday the organization issued its Red Tape Report Card. Saskatchewan earned an ‘A’ grade again in 2021.
The CFIB grades provinces in three key areas: accountability, burden and progress towards eliminating internal trade barriers. This is the third consecutive ‘A’ grade for the province.
Marilyn Braun-Pollon, Vice President, Western Canada & Agri-business says as of 2019-20, Saskatchewan publicly reported over $490 million in cumulative, forecasted red tape savings over the next ten years. Saskatchewan scored an A for Regulatory Accountability, A- for Regulatory Burden, and a B for Interprovincial Cooperation resulting in the overall grade of A.
The CFIB defines red tape as all of the unnecessary or complicated forms that have to filled out which can be costly for businesses through the loss of time.
